This Privacy Policy explains how VidTL, available at https://vidtl.com, collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information when you access or use our website, AI video editing tools, browser-based editing features, cloud features, account services, and related products.
VidTL is an AI video editor designed to let users edit, process, generate, enhance, transcribe, export, and manage video, audio, image, text, and related project content.
Your use of VidTL is subject to this Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, disclose, and otherwise process information. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, you should not use VidTL.
When you create an account, sign in, join a workspace, or manage your profile, we may collect information such as your name, email address, username, password or authentication credentials, profile information, account preferences, workspace membership, role, permissions, and other information you provide directly to us.
VidTL may process videos, audio files, images, captions, transcripts, thumbnails, project timelines, edit decisions, metadata, prompts, generated assets, exports, and other content that you upload, import, record, create, edit, or generate through the service.
Many VidTL editing functions are designed to run locally in your browser. For browser-based cutting, transcoding, and rendering, your media may be processed on your own device rather than uploaded to VidTL servers. Files generally leave your browser only when a feature requires server-side processing, when you choose cloud-based features, or when transmission is needed to operate, secure, improve, analyze, or support VidTL.
If you use cloud sync, cloud storage, team workspaces, shared projects, hosted exports, backup features, or other cloud-based functionality, we may collect, store, process, and transmit the content needed to provide those features. This may include source files, rendered files, project files, generated clips, captions, transcripts, comments, workspace activity, and related metadata.
When you use AI-powered features, we may process prompts, instructions, uploaded or selected media, transcripts, captions, text-to-speech inputs, generated speech, generated edits, summaries, suggested cuts, scene selections, effects, other AI-generated outputs, related metadata, and interactions with those features.
If you use screen recording, webcam recording, microphone recording, voiceover, or similar features, VidTL may process the video, audio, and related recording data necessary to provide those features. Depending on the feature and your settings, this processing may occur locally in your browser or through cloud-based services.
If you purchase a subscription, paid plan, add-on, or other paid service, our payment processors may collect and process payment details. We may receive limited billing information such as your name, email address, billing address, subscription status, plan type, transaction identifiers, invoice history, payment status, and tax-related information. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers.
We may automatically collect information about how you use VidTL, including pages viewed, features used, projects created, exports completed, workspace activity, clicks, session duration, referral pages, errors, logs, performance data, and interactions with our website, editor, support tools, and communications.
We may collect technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, language settings, time zone, device identifiers, cookie identifiers, local storage identifiers, network information, crash reports, diagnostics, and security logs.
If you contact us, request support, subscribe to updates, join a waitlist or newsletter, respond to surveys, submit feedback, or otherwise communicate with us, we may collect your contact information, message content, attachments, support history, and related correspondence.
VidTL uses AI and automated technologies to provide, operate, analyze, improve, and develop video editing and media creation features. These technologies may analyze selected content, uploaded content, project data, prompts, outputs, usage patterns, and related metadata to identify speech, scenes, objects, faces, motion, timing, audio patterns, visual elements, quality issues, captions, and other media characteristics.
AI features may include automatic editing, clipping, captioning, transcription, translation, text-to-speech, voice processing, background removal, audio cleanup, visual enhancement, resizing, summarization, content recommendations, and generation of video, audio, text, or other assets.
Some AI features may require server-side processing by VidTL or trusted third-party providers. When you use those features, relevant inputs, outputs, project data, media, metadata, and interactions may be transmitted to and processed by servers to provide features, improve results, develop models, evaluate safety, prevent abuse, debug issues, and operate VidTL.
Model training & improvement: We may use content, prompts, inputs, outputs, metadata, usage data, feedback, and interactions with VidTL to develop, train, test, evaluate, improve, and operate our models, systems, features, safety tools, and services, except where prohibited by law or where we have agreed otherwise in writing.
Your content may be reviewed or processed by automated systems and, where appropriate, by authorized personnel or service providers for support, safety, abuse prevention, quality, debugging, product improvement, and model development.
VidTL is designed so many core editing actions can happen directly in your browser. This means certain video files and editing operations may remain on your device and may not be uploaded to VidTL servers for those local operations.
Local browser processing may include actions such as trimming, cutting, transcoding, rendering, previewing, and exporting where supported by your browser and device.
Local processing does not mean that all VidTL features are offline or server-free. Features such as account login, cloud storage, project sync, collaboration, paid subscriptions, AI transcription, AI generation, text-to-speech, team administration, support, analytics, and integrations may require information to be transmitted to VidTL or third-party service providers.
When you choose to use cloud-based features, VidTL may upload, store, process, render, transcribe, generate, share, or export your content using cloud infrastructure. These features may include cloud sync, cloud storage, shared workspaces, collaborative editing, hosted exports, backups, AI transcription, AI generation, text-to-speech, integrations, and enterprise administration.
Cloud processing may be used to provide requested features, maintain accounts, improve VidTL, develop and train models, analyze usage, protect security, comply with legal obligations, prevent abuse, provide support, and operate the service.
You should avoid uploading or processing content through VidTL unless you have the necessary rights, permissions, and consents to do so.
VidTL may use cookies, local storage, pixels, analytics tools, software development kits, and similar technologies to operate the website, keep you signed in, remember preferences, secure accounts, analyze usage, improve performance, measure campaigns, and prevent fraud or abuse.
These technologies may be provided by VidTL or third-party service providers that support hosting, analytics, payments, advertising, authentication, customer support, security, and product operations.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect VidTL’s functionality.
We do not sell personal information for money. Certain analytics, advertising, or measurement activities may be considered “sharing” or a “sale” under some privacy laws, and we will provide opt-out rights where required. We may share information in the following circumstances:
VidTL may allow you to share, publish, export, or make projects, videos, templates, assets, or links available to others. Content you choose to share publicly or with specific people may be viewed, copied, downloaded, saved, or reshared by those people depending on your settings and the features you use.
You are responsible for the content you upload, create, publish, or share through VidTL, including ensuring that you have all necessary rights, permissions, releases, and consents.
If workspace or team features are available and you use VidTL as part of a team, business, organization, or workspace, certain information may be visible to workspace owners, administrators, and authorized members. This may include your name, email address, role, permissions, project activity, shared content, usage information, billing status, and security logs.
If available, workspace owners or administrators may be able to manage access, configure settings, invite or remove users, view workspace activity, control shared projects, and request deletion or export of workspace data.
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide VidTL, maintain your account, complete transactions, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent fraud or abuse, and support legitimate business purposes.
Content processed locally in your browser may remain on your device unless you upload, sync, share, export, or otherwise transmit it through a cloud-based feature. Content stored through cloud features may be retained according to your account settings, subscription plan, workspace configuration, storage selections, legal requirements, and operational needs.
When you delete content or close your account, we will take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify associated information, subject to backup retention, legal obligations, security needs, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, model development records where permitted, and other legitimate business purposes.
Some deleted information may remain in backups, logs, or archival systems for a limited period before being removed in accordance with our retention practices.
We use reasonable technical, administrative, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, loss, misuse, and destruction.
These safeguards may include encryption, access controls, authentication protections, monitoring, logging, network security measures, vulnerability management, internal policies, and restrictions on personnel access.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.
VidTL may process and store information in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your location.
Where required by applicable law, we take steps designed to protect personal information transferred across borders.
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:

You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
VidTL may integrate with or link to third-party websites, platforms, tools, and services. These may include payment processors, analytics providers, AI service providers, cloud infrastructure providers, authentication providers, support tools, export destinations, and social or content platforms.
Third-party services may collect information from you according to their own privacy policies. Our service providers may process submitted content and related data to provide services to us and, where permitted, to improve, secure, or develop their systems, subject to their terms and our agreements with them. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or security of third-party services.
We may access, preserve, or disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, enforce our terms, prevent fraud or abuse, protect users or the public, investigate security incidents, or protect the rights, property, and safety of VidTL and others.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice, such as by posting a notice on VidTL or sending an email notification.
